Yesterday as I was searching for some other items to put in the What Is It? thread, I took shots in my garage. So, without the need to guess, here are some items 'on display' in the garage.
1) the roll of AVALON railing with the rosettes, mentioned in the other thread. This was in Dorothea Frye's basement prior to my garage.
2) a section of the forward stairs from the Main to Boiler Deck on the NATCHEZ, and a lollipop from her railings. The lollipop was brought home in a suitcase before the days of TSA... I'm sure it would be construed as a weapon today.
3) One of the a/c covers from the original NATCHEZ dining room decor. A Watchman, now a NOLA dentist, Phil Punecky, painted a series of these throughout the dining room. They were removed when the decor was changed, back in the ?early 90s?4664.jpg4665.jpg4666.jpg

More garage souvenirs

1) sign from outside the NATCHEZ' Magnolia Suite. This is on the Main Deck, forward of the boiler room. It originally was a Snack Bar, then a storage room, and for many years now, the Magnolia Suite private party room. It can seat about 50, and hold 150 or so standing. Many wedding receptions and reunions are held there - such as the MQ crew reunion this past summer.
2) This banner adorned the Hurricane Deck railing when we had both the Dukes of Dixieland in the evening and Duke Heitger's Steamboat Stompers on the day trips. The blue background is reminiscent of the great DQ stern banner from 1973-78: Voyages to America.
3) a life vest from the JULIA BELLE SWAIN4667.jpg4668.jpg4669.jpg

and finally a warning...

To all you new steamboat artifact collectors: LABEL YOUR ITEMS! You will NOT always remember what it is, and where it came from. Here is an example of: lordy, where did this come from?????

Keith just enlightened me that it came from the RENOWN, and of course he had given it to me...4670.jpg
