In R.Sutton's 1883 "History of Shelby County Ohio" .p.178 in bio of Levi Cofield b.Miami County Ohio 1830 it is stated that his mother died when he was about 2 years of age and that his father just prior ro this time had left home to do businees in Cincinnati and that he was never heard from. "..It was supposed that he was on a steamboat that was blown up on the river about this time.."
I completed a list by year of all the steamboat losses by accidents a few months ago. Here are some results Superior exploded 20 Dec 1832 Brandenburg, Ky.: Phoebus burnt 20 Jul 1832 Cincinnati; Oregon snagged 31 Jan 1832 Trinity, Ky; Falcon Collided with the Senator in 1832 Henderson, Ky; Tigress burnt 19 May 1830 Troy, Ohio.
Sorry Cofield did not make it into Lloyds Steamboat disasters. I am not aware of any steamboat traffic between Miami co, Ohio's Loranie, River and Cincinnati.
