At the DQ reunion events this past weekend, I understand that Jazzou and others lovingly honored Helen Prater with music and a toast with appropriate libations. Also noteworthy is that there is soon to be a placque installed near the piano that Miss Helen loved to play in the Texas Lounge. I'm sure she would enjoy being so remembered, as many of us have heard her play that piano MANY times! Nancy told me that, while it was hard to be on the boat for the first time without Miss Helen, being with so many loving river friends really helped her and Dick, and brought about some necessary closure.
Memorial donations in tribute to Miss Helen have come to the Howard Steamboat Museum and I've received requests for information as to where to send them:
