A while back there was discussion about pipe organs being shipped by boat. Here is a picture of an electric car which arrived in Louisville by boat in 1910. The car was shipped by boat from Cincinnati, there was no paved road between Louisville and Cincinnati. This car was owned by my great Aunt who was one of the first women drivers in Louisville. My great Aunts husband, who liked his bourbon once drove this car up the Courthouse steps here in Louisville.
Does anyone know what brand of car this one was, I've tried to research it but can't identify it.

If I was a betting man, I'd say that was a Detroit Electric!!!! If so, they were popular in their day...
I can usually recognize some of the "brass era" but it is difficult with the unique coachwork that existed then. I guess my 20 years in the car/truck business pays off finally!

That's a great story Jim...you should contact Old Cars Weekly, Collectible Automobile or Hemmings Classic Car with that story, it would make a great article!
My great-grandfather Edward Zahn was one of about 10 people who 1st had a car in Racine, WI...he had several (sucessive) Ohio mfg'd Winton's that supposedly came from Ohio to Racine on a Goodrich steamer, that is before he was driving Kissel's that were made right here in WI...
Pete, Thanks a lot.....Steamboat.org never ceases to amaze me. In that picture my great Aunt was driving, the little girl in the car was my Aunt and the child standing in front of the car was my dad.
