Bob, the wheelbase of the Ford Model T was 100 inches and weighed about 1200#...
By 1935 the Ford V8 was up to 112" wheelbase...and the weight more than doubled...about 2500#

It isn't hard, once you've done it, but I really need somebody sitting next to me to take me step by step.
You can...click on a name and a popup box appears where you can link to an email...or you can send a personal message through the system...much like an email...

You can't send emails through here if you don't do the private message, which I don't. I check email several times a day, but rather than use that, people were sending me private messages that I didn't know I had for a week, hence I disabled it. This is a perfect example of the new board version 'more is better'. Plain old email was fine, but now you have to have this private message garbage enabled to click on the email address. So I will amend my statement to say that this new board setup won't let you just email on a click, unless you buy into the rest of the message system.
Another landing that the DQ made only once, and once again in the Jim Blum era(do we see a pattern here?), is Stillwater Minnesota on the beautiful St. Croix. The DQ went up the St. Croix 3 times: the first time we turned around at Hudson, the second we went the entire 23 miles to Stillwater and went back, and the third time we stopped in Stillwater. That trip was scheduled again, but the zebra mussel controversy canned it, along with a JULIA BELLE SWAIN St. Croix trip.
Seems to me as if 55 cars could be squeezed cheek by jowl on the King and Queen's main deck. Remember the deck room was much larger then as the kitchen was down in the hold.
Yes, the NATCHEZ is classified as a ferryboat. The large ferries in the NOLA harbor are capable of holding 60 vehicles, but that includes pickups, small trucks too.

The DQ was scheduled in July 1999 for that St Croix trip....however the WI DNR and a few WI state reps were having issue, as I heard...
That July 1999 trip was a rare roundtrip from St Paul...and was one of the more memorable (& enjoyable) DQ trips for my parents & me in recent history...despite the hiccups we all experienced on that trip...

Sorry...I didn't realize you were familiar with the PM system...my bad.
Reason I posted was the last time I posted my email address publically here on the Steamboats.org message board...& now that email account is flooded daily with 20-30 spam mails...
