Annie Blum's new book on the Steamer ADMIRAL arrived at my landing yesterday. WOW! It is beautifully done and laden with many never-before-published photos of the big excursion sidewheeler as well as other steamboats and people of the famous Streckfus Line. Along with all the historical information Annie has included many personal and fascinating first hand accounts of her years (1962-1978) as a crew member on the boat.
Even if you never set foot aboard the ADMIRAL, every river buff and buffette will want to add this new tome to their library! There will never again be a unique vessel like "The Big Silver Boat"!
A whistle salute to you Annie and THANKS for all your diligent work on this wonderful new book! As my mother said, and I certainly agree, your love for the ADMIRAL shines through in your writings. Bravo!
