Just a friendly reminder that the annual RIVER RAMBLINGS program at the Howard Steamboat Museum is on SATURDAY, AUGUST 11th, just two weeks from today! Showtime is 3:00 PM (EDT) allowing those who wish to ride the Str. BELLE of LOUISVILLE on her afternoon cruise which departs at noon and returns at 2:00.
Topic for this eighth offering in my educational lecture series is "The Big Silver Boat - Remembrances of the Excursion Steamer ADMIRAL". Presenters will be Capt. Jim & Annie Blum, both of whom were long associated with the boat and will share firsthand experiences and images, many of them taken by Capt. Jim.
Due to the torrid heat, we most likely will convene in the mansion, which is now cooled by our recently installed geo-thermal system. And, of course, we'll have the usual steamboat chocolate chip cookies, generously provided by Judy Patsch, along with lemonade and ice water.

RR prep
I've been stocking up on Betty Crocker cookie mix for the event - hard to believe this is the 8th one already. I'd say that qualifies it as a sustained successful event - maybe if you ever need some extra financing, you could make a request to the JMG Fund of S&D. That is intended for educational purposes, and these first seven events have certainly been that, and well-attended. We'll have the usual post session, post Kingfish gathering at my room at the Towne Place Suites too. 2 weeks from today!!!
