Where can I find a 12 month wall calendar with photos or drawings of steamboats/riverboats? I cheked calendars.com but no go.
Nan Hathorne
whose steamboat novvel draft one is done.. now on to draft 2
Nan, not steamboats but Steve Huffman has a great calendar of "gasboats", that is, working sternwheel towboats from the early 20th century whether diesel (as most are) or gasoline powered. The link is here: http://www.steamboats.org/forum/river-talk-cruises/4390-2012-sternwheel-towboat-calendar-available.html
Nan,
John Wesie has been producing Delta Queen Calendars for several years. Go to www. Steamboats.com and you can get previews of all the steamboat snd riverboat calendars that are available.
A Dozen Months
Maybe I should do a calendar with my "One Dozen Assorted Steamboats" sketches. Right number. Hmmm.
Steamboat Calendars
Good idea Lex! We haven't had many STEAMboat calendars on the market for some time. but we have been fortunate to have the excellent TOWboat calendars offered by Steve and Barbara Huffman for some time. Allen Hess did several of them with wonderful steamboat photo images in the early 1980's, the late artist Roscoe Misselhorn offered one in 1982 with sketches of St. Louis area riverboats, and there was a really fine one of the Streckfus excursion steamers done in the mid 1980's, containing wonderful photos and information.
In 2007, I was delighted to find one, entitled STEAMBOATS, which featured the current NATCHEZ on the cover. Inside were great color photos of the BELLE of LOUISVILLE, BECKY THATCHER (ex-MISSISSIPPI) etc. Seems it was done by Calendars.Com. I bought a half dozen of them, one to keep and the others for gifts, but apparently it didn't sell well enough to do a second one, sorry to say!
When I was aboard the DELTA QUEEN at Chattanooga in November, Chief Engineer Fred Rich had a new 2012 calendar in the engine room of Tennessee River scenes, one of which featured the DQ. I have also noted on EBAY there are various calendars offered for LOUISIANA, ST. LOUIS, NEW ORLEANS, and other river cities which often feature a river/boat scene or two.
There was a dandy Greene Line calendar some years ago. Cap'n Walnut
For our 2012 calendar we had planned on returning to the steamboats theme again (See: http://www.steamboats.org/forum/river-talk-cruises/1816-2008-steamboat-calendar-excursion-boats-available.html ) but I was not able to get with key people with photo collections in time. We might try again for a pure steamboat calendar for 2013, or do both (steamboats and sternwheel towboats, in separate calendars). Depends on how much time I have to spare...

Indeed there was, Cap'n Walnut! I just dug it out and it was published in 1964, containing photos of ALL the Greene Line boats.
Thanks for the reminder!
