Rusting towboat, last of its kind, gets a lifeline | Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/12/2009
Interesting and pretty well-written, I thought.
A "BREAKING NEWS" bulletin in The Marietta Times this afternoon reports that the departure of the BECKY is still on for tomorrow morning, but the W.P. SNYDER, JR. will stay put, due to the contract not being signed with the towing company that is to move the boat to South Point. It was a good and logical plan to move both the BECKY and SNYDER out of the Muskingum River while the old Harmar Bridge was open, but this glitch in plans means that the swing span will now have to be opened a second time when the SNYDER is towed out -- and opening & closing that old bridge is NOT exactly an easy task!
