CROWDS THRONG J. S. INAUGURAL

Flagship of Streckfus Fleet On First Outing Attracts Tri-City Excursionists.
---------------
The big steamer J. S. has officially opened its season this year and the tri-cities have shown their appreciation of the effort exerted by Commodore John Streckfus and Captain John Streckfus, Jr., in making the J. S. even more beautiful and delightful than in years past.

Retaining the vast spaciousness, all decks offer freedom for promenade and the dining room on the upper deck, with its sides opening directly on to the panorama of the river is a delight. Thousands of vari-colored lights go far in making the J. S. a dream boat while their constant reflection from the waters of the Mississippi make a striking picture. The music as supplied on the J. S. proved a great success. Fate Marable has the syncopating strains of the modern dance music at his finger tips and his co-workers draw big crowds to the big dancing deck. Popularity of these Dixie boys has not diminished and their efforts to please the patrons of the J. S. met with an approval that will assure them of a most splendid reception in the tri-cities.

A new era of amusement is being ushered into the Mississippi valley, that of the modern excursion steamer as run on modern principles as at present adopted by the Streckfus steamboat line.

Excursions Saturday and yesterday drew large numbers with indications of equally large attendance tonight, final of the opening series of trips.9661.jpg

Telephone Girls.

Can you imagine what that would mean today?

All deck chairs occupied by girls gazing into their phones on facebook.
