Unless the AIS is down, the AQ is still at Oak Alley at 3PM. I don't know when she arrived, but it was before 7AM. I haven't seen any descriptions of the deluxe shore tours, but if the only thing on today's tour is Oak Alley, well that's a lot of good steamboating time a-wasting...

Cruising...
She must have left shortly after I checked the AIS, as she's now upbound just below Donaldsonville... I can feel the river breeze cooling off my sunburn right now! One thing that is usually surprising to those of us from the upper rivers is the lack of civilization visible on the lower river - the levees obscure what few buildings are there, and the towns are built inland so they are out of sight. Once she gets above Baton Rouge, its a tranquil scene for miles and miles...just listening to the paddlewheel slapping the water, while sipping a PP or Sam Adams (hi Bruno)...

We were scheduled to leave Oak Alley at 4:00 on the shakedown cruise. There were a couple of extra shore tours you could purchase, one was to Laura and the other was a swamp tour. I did the Laura tour in the morning. Then came back to the boat for lunch and headed over to Oak Alley in the early afternoon. Enjoyed both very much since I had never been to either.

Funny, I don't recall any red decks. But the Observation Deck certainly has green ones, as we were studying the standing water after a rain storm on Wednesday evening, wondering where to sit our luggage.
