I have a New question for anyone regarding my research of this U.S. Government boat. I have a bunch of pictures taken while my father was aboard the General Allen during the 1922-29 time period. All of the pics are in black white & show the single large search light mounted on the center of the top deck. I also have a large newspaper photo of the Allen sent to me by Keith Norrington some years back dtd June 6th 1937 when she was pulling into the Minneapolis area clearly now showing TWO large search lights mounted on the rt & lt of the top deck. My question is does anyone know or can they find out the approximate date when they installed the 2nd light???. That way I can more accuretly date the photographs I have, as I have others that show the two lights, as well & they have to be later but again when was the extra light added??
Thanks

U.S. General Allen

I have further clarified the above question, I have a 1935 dtd picture of the General Allen with the single searchlight & a 1937 dtd picture with the double searchlites. This tells me that the conversion was probably done during the winter tie up in either the 1935-36 or the 1936-37 time period. Can anyone give me the exact time period??????
Thanks
