Things are looking up for the Goldenrod Showboat and I am very excited for what is to come in the next few months. But the question was brought up in today's meeting "Why do you think the Goldenrod should be saved?". I gave my response very promptly but I want to show that there are more people out there than just me that want the Goldenrod to be saved for future generations to come! So if anyone could please help me by sending me your personal stories about the Goldenrod or just a statement as to why you think the Goldenrod should be saved it would help a lot! Thank you for your time!

Saving the Showboat

Jake, thanks very much for all your efforts to save the GOLDENROD. As the largest showboat ever built (1909) and one of only two authentic showboats extant (the other being the MAJESTIC at Cincinnati) it is critical that the historic floating theatre which once brought "culture" to many river communities be preserved for posterity.

Keep up steam!

Save the Goldenrod

As one who had a brief experience working on the Showboat Majestic long ago and had to wait many years to finally see a show on the Goldenrod, I too thank you for your efforts to save that showboat. It was so sad to see her tied up on the Illinois River as we were going by on the Spirit of Peoria last year. That boat with all her history needs to be saved. I enjoyed the informative video on your website!!
