A whistle salute and a steam calliope rendition of HAPPY BIRTHDAY to "Mr. Wizard of the Whistles", Travis Vasconcelos, in celebration of his birthday today! Have a great day in every way and keep UP steam! Here's to MANY more years of steamboating and friendship!

It was a pleasure yesterday to host a "video shoot" at the Howard Steamboat Museum, at which Travis turned in a stellar performance while being interviewed by a Ohio college professor, working on a project concerning the history of music on the river. Matt "Bubba" Dow, enjoying a day off from the BELLE, came along to enjoy the fun!7248.jpg

Travis,

In the inimitable style of Interlocutor Vic Tooker, "Salubrious felicitations on this anniversary of your natal day." Although I don't have my Tasmanian garachiphone (or whatever the danged thing was called!) to offer a proper musical salute, the greetings and good wishes are still heartfelt. Enjoy this special day, and may you celebrate many, many more!

David, you have the Colonel down to a T. Now, I wonder how many here remember Vic, Mom, or Guy Tooker? I can see the bubbles blowing now!
(Forgive me, Travis, for the brief diversion from your thread.)

Just in from the Mishawauka Indiana jr/sr prom...

...or so the Colonel said during his Juke Box Saturday Night Show, yes Frank there aren't many of us left who have Vic's shows memorized, and Travis is FAR too young to have experienced them, right Travissimo? I presume your natal day has been filled with good wishes from all stretches of the river system. I add mine here from mile 480 UMR, and remind you that if you don't get enough celebrating done today, follow the Colonel's admonition: Celebrate the 4th with a fifth!!!!

Happy birthday Travis. Although we haven't actually met, I've seen and heard your fine work over the years. I've even videoed you playing various steam driven instruments at a few venues.

Thank you to all for the wonderful birthday wishes! Judy, I have to admit, I knew Vic Tooker...so I am not as young as you may think. As someone said yesterday (and I will quote this to my grave), I am 29 plus tax! I like to look at it that way...doesn't sound as old. Wasn't Vic the master entertainer with a gifted tongue for orating the most unusual of shows? Looking forward to a summer of fun steamboating activities! Perhaps as we wll get together we can try once again to repeat some of the great Tooker-ism's of the river. Judy, do you remember the time we tried on the BELLE in 2002? We almost got it...and we had like 5 people participating!

Dave, I hope you didn't break your Tibia digging out from under that theatre organ project you were buried under. (Sorry....I couldn't resist!)

*Happy B-day to Mr. 'T.'*
Sorry for being late in conveying congrats to Mr. 'T' on his B-day. Busy here and the other shoe dropped when I read Keith's lead posting. Hey, what's this big "theater organ project" David is buried under? Do post and tell if you can. No, my June REFLECTOR is still in transit via trading canoe.
