And another gem it is! Outstanding articles by all--I've skimmed them all, not being able to resist a one. I will go back to read again, and again, for the excellent research and writing in this issue. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in this issue!

Gosh dang it, Mary, the only thing or person I'm angry at right now is the U.S.Postal Service. How come folks in Minnesota, Illinois, and Ohio are getting their REFLECTORs before us here in the Commonwealth? 😉

Frank, You're not the only one. The U.S. post hole service hasn't delivered mine yet.

In the days of the RPO (Railway Post Office cars) I would say the clerks would be reading it because the June issue is stupendous and they didn't finish it on the Westbound run so it went back East again so they could finish it.

I now suspect the Wiggins Ferry Company and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad are feuding over rates (to cross the Mississippi River-St Louis) and the mail cars are sitting somewhere on a sidetrack.

The WJ, printed here in St Louis often takes a week or more to be delivered in Downtown St Louis to a building about 10 blocks from their office. To make it even more interesting the MPO (Main Post Office) is 5 blocks the other side.

On the bright side, yard work is caught up so that when it comes the evening will be spoken for without guilt!

The Marietta-Louisville packet briefly nosed into the Jeffersonville landing this morning and a roustabout ran across the stage and up the hill to deliver the museum's copy of the June issue! Even with a cursory glance it's obvious that Editor Dave has, once again, done himself proud with fabulous photos and tantalizing text! Pat Carr's firsthand photo essay of life on the last traveling showboat (MAJESTIC) is just wonderful, as are excellent articles about the controversial origin of the DQ calliope by Jonathan Tschiggfrie, Tom Schiffer's fascinating story of the Frisbie Engine and Machine Company and all sorts of steamboaty tidbits to keep buffs and buffettes reading for hours. We have a group tour arriving in a few minutes, but after that...

Thanks (again) Dave and BRAVO!!!

I propose a contest to see who is the last one to get their Reflector. So far Jim and I are the front runners.

I'm still in the running. I hope that changes later today.

*RE: Last REFLECTOR to arrive*
Steamboating collelagues:
I can categorically state I'll be the very last to receive my June REFLECTOR up here in the great north woods until late July/early August. The French fur traders in long canoes paddled by today dropping off whiskey, gun powder, dried beans, blankets--but no REFLECTOR. I'm busy fighting off hungry wolves, coyotes and bear since yesterday. Yes, the frontier where civilization meets wilderness.
