Several years ago I acquired some mahogany handrail which was removed from the Mississippi Queen. This wood has been squared to 5"wide and is 2" thick
except in the middle of the underside where there is a 1/2" dado (recess)
that is 2" wide. This beautiful wood still bears dowel pins and other evidence of its provenance. I am a New Orleans carpenter who worked on the Delta Queen.
This wood usually sells for $12 / board foot and I wish to offer it for sale at half that price with the buyer paying for shipping. There are about a dozen pieces about 8' long plus smaller pieces. I also built a multicolored table with many types of wood including this mahogany.
This is a chance to incorporate riverboat history into your next project ! Please send inquiries to me at [email protected]

Removal of MQ wood

Would this be the railings that met their doom from the Fontaine Johnson & partners new varnish idea? I don't remember the year, but the railings were so damaged they were removed and the metal railing was painted red.
