The cover of the 2008 steamboat calendar is an onboard shot of the CAPITOL. The January pix is of the first ISLAND QUEEN in a cold wintry setting. Here are a couple of other pix of these boats to peruse on a cold wintry day: the first one is the CAPITOL at Canal Street in New Orleans, the Streckfus dock. Note her stage has been removed for the winter season there, and that she is pointed downriver as the upstream eddy goes from Algiers Bend up past Canal Street. Pix 2 is of the ISLAND QUEEN at Coney Island. The postcard was promoting the Ohio Valley Industrial Exposition in 1910. Steve has notes on the calendar about various facts of the pictured boat, and he notes that the IQ lost part of her deck in a 1922 incident. Here is that recorded for posterity.1283.jpg1284.jpg1285.jpg
